Take the Long Way Home

One final thrifty post for 2012.
Can you believe I was worried I would run out of things to blog about at the beginning of the year??!!

The other day I came away empty handed from my op shop run. Which is okay really. It's proof that I don't have to buy something EVERY time I go thrifting. But I took a different road home, & saw a SALE sign out the front of a house & lots of stuff across the lawn. An older couple were downsizing, & they let me have a wee rummage through their things.

A gaggle of geese measuring spoons $1

Geese measuring cups for the steep price of 20cents!

Now the top of my microwave has it's own thing happening
As does every spare nook in my house!

Blue anodised milk jug

Cream beaded bag

A shadow box with glass doors

Now containing some smalls with spaces yet to fill

Beautiful blue Belgian made glass jars
$1 each

Old Nestle tin with a Parisian theme

We're off for dinner at my bestie Miss J's place but it will be a pretty laid back evening, & who knows if we'll bother staying up till midnight. Sending my love & best wishes for a Happy New Year wherever you are!

Guest Post at Little Foal

Sunae over at Little Foal asked me to do a guest post sharing some of my favourite things. It was pretty hard to narrow down, but you can check it out here. Sunae has just started her blogging journey, but she has an eye for style & some creative & crafty ideas. Little Foal is definitely worth a look. Thanks Sunae for having me over at your blog! Xx

Modern Style Frock Friday

You might start to think the Woolloongabba Antique Store is our second home. I might just live there if I could, surrounded by such an array of vintage goodness. It seems to get better every time I go. Here are a few pics from our last visit before Christmas.

I LOVE these old railway lamps

No suprises that I fell in lurve with this green frock
No I didn't buy it....but it's so me isn't it?

Mr P was tempted by yet another plane

Kermit phone for $300

I found this frock by the label 'Modern Style' at Vinnies in Paddington. I really liked the style & fit but I wasn't so sure about the colour scheme as it's a bit muted. Mauve is yet another colour I have never worn. Now that I wear vintage all of the time I am becoming a bit more adventurous with styles & colours, which means I don't have to wear green every single day! I do love the metal zip & matching belt, & the touch of blue in the floral print.

Outfit details....

Vintage Frock - Vinnies Paddington
Brooch - Vintage Treasures
Vintage beads - Lifeline
Turquoise silver necklace - Rubi
Turquoise ring - Endos
Bracelet - Ipswich op shop
Card box basket - Salvos

The 12th Day of Kitchmas

So the big day has come & gone yet again. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Did any of you give or receive thrifted or vintage gifts this Christmas??? I certainly scored this year with lots of fabulous old stuff. Here are some of the things my dearest Mum gave to me....I feel like a kid doing show & tell! She'd been collecting things for me throughout the year from op shops & garage sales. Yep I'm pretty blessed to have a Mum like her!

A divoooon 3 dimensional wall plate with deers AND an owl
Doesn't get better then that!!!

A super sweet & colourful Italian made ceramic bird

A little deer vase

 Delicious orange canister set

So ugly it's cool Monet bird brooch & diamante brooch

First two seasons of Mad Men from my Aunty
I know many of us aren't fans of Don Draper, but I am a huge fan of the styling.

And Mr P gave me these original 1970's Ted Lapidus sunglasses in perfect condition.
They cost him nothing from a if I told you I'd have to kill you "secret source" but they sell for $300 plus online!

And a handmade bird brooch that Mr P secretly purchased at the WAC by Erstwilder.

All in all it was a lovely Christmas, despite the heat & humidity. I'm in recovery mode now for a few days, but hopefully I'll be hitting the op shops again ASAP!

Bagged It

So I figured there was time for one last post before Christmas......

I must admit to having a rather large bag collection. I justify it because I have to wear practical supportive shoes when I go out due to my Grandma feet & a previously torn tendon, so I at least like to alternate my bags fairly often. If I can't be a shoe girl I'll be a bag girl. I recently donated a pile of newer style handbags to an op shop, so I can focus on my old bag collection instead.
And as it goes Salvos was having a half price sale on bags, so of course I had to nab these gems.

I haven't come across a black tooled leather bag while thrifting before.
I snapped this up for $4

It's a card box basket bag!
Super kitsch with a beach scene but really well made

A bright red beauty case in great condition
Great for storing my hair straightener & products

I wanted to wish all of my lovely readers a very blessed Christmas.
Thanks for following my vintage journey for the past year & for providing me an outlet to ramble about my old junk. It's been a wonderful escape for me especially during some tough times this year with my chronic illness. I appreciate each & every one of you & I love reading your comments & your blogs.
Love & Blessings to you
